Laila, 4th grade
While our 5th grade has been busy making Op Art style stripes for our Veteran's Day display, the fourth grade has been creating star paintings. Fourth graders discussed and looked at examples of artwork using emphasis. They drew a design for their star picture that emphasized one star in their arrangement, using size, placement, or color. Students also learned about value and how they could make a tint of a color by adding white or a shade by adding black. Students used tints and shades of blue because the stars on our flag are on a field of blue. Laila did a great job of emphasizing the star in the middle of her composition. Brooklyn, 3rd grade
Third grade has been learning to draw their portrait in proportion. This is a lovely sketch by Brooklyn that will be used for a final work of art. Arielle, 1st Grade
For Veteran's Day, our first graders have been trying their hand at stamping while creating handfuls of poppies. They discussed how different objects can be used as a symbol, and learned that poppies are a symbol of remembrance for our Veterans. They are excited to display their poppies for our Veteran's Day assembly at school later this month. |
