Alma, Iana, Stephanie, Brayden, Kindergarten Sometimes it is hard to pick just one! Kindergarten has been learning all about how to mix primary colors to make secondary colors. We read Mouse Paint by Ellen Stohl Walsh and mixed primary colors to make green, purple and orange. We also talked about the shapes we might use to make a mouse and made our own little mice to add to our paintings. These are four great examples by Alma, Iana, Stephanie and Brayden. Landyn, 4th Grade
The wings of this dragon span cross the background as the body twists and turns across the page. Landyn used various kinds of lines used on his dragon create a wonderful variety of textures. Khamara, Sebastian, Juianne, 1st Grade More robots from the second grade. There are lots of patterns using different kinds of lines on these expressive robots! Savannah, 2nd Grade
Lots of beautiful line designs adorn the library, church and house in this lovely painting by Savannah. Brooklyn, Valeria, Jake, Melissa, 1st Grade The first grade has been talking about different types of lines and how to make patterns with them. They made different types of lines with their arms and even worked in teams to make patterns with different types of lines. Getting to move around and work together was fun! After that exercise and a little practice drawing patterns, students drew their own original robot designs and filled them with patterns using different types of lines. We then discussed how types of lines can express other ideas or things, like sound. Students expressed the sound their robots made by drawing lines in different colors around them. These are so expressive! Skylar, 4th grade
Fish gills, bat wings, a snake tail and tongue, falcon talons, cat legs, an eagle eye and a crocodile head are combined by Skylar to make his original dragon design. This dragon is really expressive and fierce looking. Lily, 4th grade
We have been working on textured dragons in the fourth grade. Students looked at images by Albrecht Dürer, a famous printmaker and painter from the German Renaissance, to learn how artists make textures using different kinds of lines and line qualities. They then designed original dragons and filled them with textures by etching into their handmade scratchboards. Lily's dragon really twists and turns across the page and the zigzag down its back adds even more energy. Samantha, 2nd grade
Another painting by a different Samantha! The fun design for the steps rises up the hill next to a beautiful church with stained glass windows. I like how everything has a little pattern, including the flag. Nice work Samantha! |
