Dezyiah, 1st grade
Here is a little sneak peek at some of our Veterans Day artwork. First grade students learned about the "Flower of Remembrance," the poppy. They used lots of texture to make their pretty flower creations.

Allison, Kindergarten
Students used touch and sight to explore textures. They described the textures they saw on the wild beasts in the book Where the Wild Things Are. Students then learned that they can copy a texture by rubbing a crayon on paper that is placed over a texture. They had a lot of fun designing their own texture monsters. Chris, Ms. McWhorter's class
Students in Ms. McWhorter's class read Lines That Wiggle and looked for lines around the classroom. They then looked at how a spider makes all different kinds of lines to make a spiderweb. Students then wrapped a block of wood with a piece of yarn, rolled white paint over the lines on the block and printed their creations. Chris did a great printing bold lines by pushing down on the block on top of his paper. Students then printed their fingerprint on a small piece of white paper and glued their spider in its web. Kaedyn, 4th grade
Students in fourth grade studied images of dragons from around the world and compared their appearance. They noticed that dragons are usually a combination of common animals, such as birds of prey, bats, snakes, lizards, and fish. Next they drew an original dragon that twisted or turned around the page. For the final step, they studied kinds of lines and line quality, and applied their understanding of the parts of a line and how to vary them to make textures on their dragon's body. Grayson, 1st grade
First grade students learned about cool and warm colors. They then made a work of art featuring a warm colored fall leaf on a cool windy day. |
