Dragon's Art Club Time MOO-chine To A Greener Future KES Dragon's Art Club collaborated to build a sculpture out of milk cartons for the Made By Milk contest. The theme for the contest was inventions. Students can go inside and take selfies in a different time period. Take a look at their wonderful creation! Lexi, 2nd grade
Students in second grade recently got to go on a field trip to the aquarium. In art class, we talked about how to draw the form of an animal, looking first for the simple shapes that make them. Students drew a marine animal of their choice and colored it using oil pastel. We then experimented with watercolor. Students learned that water and oil don't mix, and that salt and rubbing alcohol interact with water in interesting ways. Students finished their images by adding coral using collage. VETERANS DAY All of our students in grades K through 5 created artwork for our Veterans Day celebration. The Kindergarten students made playful line sculptures. First graders made poppies. Second graders made feathers for our eagle. Our third grade students collaborated to make quilt designs, while our fourth graders painted stars in tints and shades of blue. Our fifth graders worked hard to make a small part of a larger picture of soldier's boots. We wanted to show our veterans how grateful we are for their service to our country. First grade
Students in the first grade discussed symbols and learned about that poppies are a symbol of remembrance. They made poppies to remember our soldiers this Veteran's Day. Ms. McCraw's class, 5th grade
Students in 5th grade have been learning about how artists use spatial reasoning skills when they draw from observation. As practice, they were given a piece of an unknown image that had been broken into small squares, and drew their part of the image relying on their spatial reasoning. When they were finished, they put the pieces together to see what they had drawn. Ms. McCraw's class worked diligently and ended up with a very nice work of art which will be on display for our Veteran's Day celebration. Anderson, 4th grade
Students in 4th grade have been learning about mixing values of a color to make stars for our Veteran's Day assembly. Here is a sneak peek at one of the stars with a great variety of tints and shades. |
